Campaign Antics 5/13/08 The race for a North County city council seat turns embarassing. One candidate catches his opponent on video and says it shows trespassing and attempted vandalism. Jenny Hamel reports. |
Don't expect anything less from Carl D. A young single man who moves into the district right before the election and hopes dirty tricks and the misguided voters will vote the party line no matter what. - Mary
Maybe you should go to dirtydemaio.com and maybe you will be able to ask the questions he does not want to answer. He's all about Big Business and doesn't care about the city workers or it's residents. - Ronnie
The lack of ethics and maturity displayed by Carl DeMaio knows no bounds. I can't believe he said something to the effect of "I assure you no one from my campaign tried to take down or remove the sign." It's on the tape. Holy Cow!! - Roo
You ran a promo saying a candidate "sneaks" onto private property. I live in Rancho Bernardo and the hill in question is on a busy street and looks like public property. Looks like DeMaio's opponent is making a stink about an honest mistake. - Richard, Rancho Bernardo
Well it apears to be a public right away. Based on the video. Did George pay for the advertising space to the city? I guess when you post propaganda on public property you can expect anything to happen. It's all fair in love and politics. I wish I knew the address to pull the tax records to shut this crybaby up. - Clifford, District 5
If he got some haters on his neighborhood he shouldn't put it in the first place. Doesn't matter if it is in back of his backyard. This could be worse -- might do something to his house or family. -
"Grumpy"
"Thought" it was public right of way? So far away from the curb!? Come on Carl, what kind of councilman will you be if you don't even know the laws! Sounds like "dirty politics" to me. - Chris, Santee
Big surprise. What would you expect from someone of DeMaio's maturity and experience level. Now, more than ever, San Diego is in need of strong leadership, this is just another example. He is ill prepared for the job. - Dave, Valley Center
I have to believe the story because a George George supporter in my neighborhood put information flyers on my mailbox and the same day Mr. DeMaio's suporters came and put his signs up in some yards, the George flyers were mysteriously gone. Mr. DeMaio doesn't know who's watching. - Sal, Sabre Springs
That was done with malicious intent. He knew what he doing was wrong, He would lose my vote because of what he or his team did. - Mike, San Diego
