We asked you about the Supreme Court's ruling on gun ownership.
The Preamble to the Constitution of the United States begins with "WE THE PEOPLE." Gun control is about people control. The politicians know that criminals don't care about laws so they can't control them, but they know they can control the law-abiding. The British knew this in 1775 when they tried to disarm our ancestors at Lexington and Concord which sparked the Revolutionary War. We'd still be under British control if the Brits were successful. This is the first step in the comeback of common sense and in turning this country around. There is a real problem with someone who is terrified of an inanimate object, which requires a human being to manipulate, much like a car. If you want to get down to facts, more people die in car accidents every year, but you don't see the corrupt politicians trying to ban them do you? - Andrew, Imperial Beach
I believe, even though I own no gun of my own, that gun owners should only be allowed to own one gun because of safety purposes. - Ghool, Spring Valley
Making hand guns illegal will only benefit black market gun sellers and criminals at the cost of the everyday "joe" who is buying a hand gun for sport or protection. This time the Supreme Court got it right. - Andy, Kearny Mesa
It's not about the gun. It's the person that is operating the gun. Guns are to protect ourselves against criminals that would intrude our lives and when he does so he currently has that question in the back of his mind wondering if the place he is going into has a gun. If this law took place then the intruder would be less likely to be worried about the individual having a weapon to defend against the intruder. - Nate, Menifee
I am very surprised by the Supreme Court's ruling. I think this ruling will cause many guns laws (that protect the people) to be challenged and possibly overturned. This will then lead to more violence. It is already known that firearms are the weapon of choice in 2/3 of all murders, and 1 in 4 Americans own a gun. If these gun laws are overturned, it will be a lot easier for the wrong type of people to get their hands on guns. - Shanda, Pacific Beach
Finally a Supreme Court ruling clarifying the framers intentions in penning the 2nd amendment!! - George, Oceanside
The latest ruling is long overdue. The founding fathers knew that an armed citizenry - independent of the government - is necessary in order to ensure that the government continues to serve the people. Law abiding citizens and their guns should never be controlled or registered unless engaged in criminal acts. - George, San Diego
Finally, the Supreme Court got it right on something. This right is so fundamental to being an American. Those of us who were born and raised in a family that used guns as a normal part of life have never quit understood the paranoia expressed by others. - David, Chula Vista
It's nice to see that a few bad apples aren't hurting it for everyone. Guns should be for people who won't abuse the right. Keep the laws tight, and the criminals away from the rope. - Chris, Penasquitos
