Enjoy 16 concerts performed by 70 of the world’s best musicians from August 1 through 24 during La Jolla Music Society SummerFest 2008. SummerFest 2008 pays tribute to the most revered composers of all time while continuing to promote the creation and performance of modern-day masterworks.
Some of the highlights from this year’s festival include “SummerFest Under the Stars” – a free outdoor concert overlooking the Pacific Ocean in La Jolla (8/14), a three-part concert series dedicated exclusively to the works of Brahms (8/5 , 8/12 , 8/19), the “Evening with…” series showcasing the talents of three virtuosos, including Kennedy Center Award recipient Leon Fleisher(8/20), Leila Josefowicz (8/6), Vladimir Feltsman (8/13), French composer and jazz legend Jacques Loussier (8/15) and performances by Grammy-Award winning artists violinist Gil Shaham and pianist Garrick Ohlsson.
“We bring the world to San Diego.” As one of Southern California's leading presenters of world-class performing arts, La Jolla Music Society contributes to San Diego's cultural vitality year-round through a rich variety of presentations, including classical, jazz and contemporary music, and dance.
Performances will be held at the Stephen and Mary Birch North Park Theatre and at La Jolla's Sherwood Auditorium in the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego.
