Feeling the Pain at the Pump? It’s the Perfect Time to Get Street SmartSM!

"
The California Center for Sustainable Energy hosts 2nd annual Street Smart Event Sunday, July 27, 2008

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (June 02, 2008)— California Center for Sustainable Energy’s (CCSE) free, annual Street Smart Event teaches San Diegans about fuel alternatives and how to get more mileage for their money. The event is being held on July 27th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 8690 Balboa Ave. in Kearny Mesa. A wide variety of alternative fuel vehicles will be on display and green transportation experts will be on hand to answer questions. Attendees will also find out how going green means lower car insurance rates and better loans.

Join us for workshops on ‘hypermiling’ to increase your fuel efficiency and learn about new alternative vehicle technologies and available green transportation options. Keynote speaker Chris Paine, director/creator of the documentary “Who Killed the Electric Car,” will take attendees behind the scenes of the award-winning documentary that investigates the rise and fall of the electric vehicle. In his keynote presentation, Paine will show never-before-seen footage and discuss the seemingly insurmountable challenges of making the film.

Also, learn how to get cash back for the purchase of a new alternative fuel vehicle through the Fueling AlternativesSM Rebate Program funded by the California Air Resources Board. The goal of the program is to reduce vehicle emissions and dependence on petroleum-based fuels in California by encouraging the use of alternative fuel vehicles.

Experience the Solar Taxi and hear from its driver, Louis Palmer, a man on a solar-powered mission. Palmer is driving around the world with help from the sun and is making a stop in San Diego for Steet SmartSM! Palmer is now more than halfway through his trip, in an effort to create awareness regarding fossil-fuel based transportation alternatives. Join us for this unique opportunity to check out Solar Taxi before it’s off to its next destination.
